How to Pay for Assisted Living

Your loved one’s financial resources will go further at The Ashford.

If your loved one has reached his or her senior years with limited retirement savings, you’re not alone. Instead of worrying about how to pay for assisted living, explore The Ashford’s financial resources.

We understand your parent’s concerns over his or her current finances or the future—and we’ve designed our community to help your loved one worry less and enjoy life more.

What Our Assisted Living Includes

At The Ashford, we don’t let an entrance or endowment fee keep your loved one from moving in. Instead, your parent will pay a flat monthly rate that covers…

  • All activities, outings, and social programs.
  • A continental breakfast and evening meal.
  • Weekly housekeeping.
  • Routine maintenance.
  • Laundry.
  • Basic cable or access to cable.
  • Wi-Fi.
  • Utilities (water, gas, trash, and electricity).

Discover hidden saving opportunities. Simply compare your loved one’s current expenses to our assisted living services using our calculation sheet below.

Your Financial Resources

Lessen your loved one’s worries over how to pay for assisted living. With The Ashford, you’ll gain the opportunity to tap into several financial assistance options.

Unlike independent living facilities, The Ashford is a residential care facility under Ohio’s laws and an assisted living facility through the Ohio Department of Health.

This means your loved one can benefit from…

  • Private long-term care insurance. If your family member has a long-term care insurance policy, this can fund his or her assisted living expenses. Pay close attention if your parent currently receives a pension. Sometimes, pension benefits can include a long-term care insurance policy your loved one is unaware of.
  • Veteran’s benefits. With the Aid & Attendance benefit, your family member can qualify for over $1,500 per month for assisted living support. Financial assistance under this provision also extends to the spouses of veterans.

The Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver Program. In Ohio, your loved one may be eligible for support through Medicaid. To learn more, go to the Ohio Department of Aging.

After two years of private pay, The Ashford is certified to provide service under the Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver Program and is accepting residents eligible for this funding source. Please discuss this program with our Executive Director.
